Why Back Porch Businesses?
Aren't you Tips by Tay?
Don't worry, you can still refer to me as Tips by Tay, but this name completes us! Why Back Porch Businesses you may ask? It's not a pretty story but it sure is a pretty meaningful building name. When I was desperate to leave a mentally draining job, I was becoming hopeless on finding a place to bring my business. Somewhere affordable for a new business owner at the ripe age of 19 (who was completely starting their business over a year later) to go. Somewhere to do what I love and love where I'm doing it. I was driving south, down Main Street, mid Janurary of 2024 and on a whim decided to stop in at Back Porch Boutique. I didn't have much time left on my lunch but decided to walk in. I ended up asking Jen (owner of Back Porch Boutique) to whom I've never known a day in my life lol, "this might sound crazy, but would you have an area for a nail tech to rent?" I left less then 15 minutes after walking in, called my mom with tears in my eyes and trembles in my hands, I knew in my heart I found Tips by Tay's home. I was in there beginning of February. Jen gave me a chance. Gave my business a chance. And she will forever be one of my best friends. She's the reason I'm expanding to help other new, and not so new, business owners. It's my time to pay it forward. It only made sense to make the building name Back Porch Businesses. This name represents the honor of Jen's opportunity she provided me while also incorporating these other awesome businesses/service providers! This was such a pivotal moment in my business and in my life and is why I believe God's plan is always much greater than ours. I always get a lot of questions about what's next, and truthfully, I'm never completely sure. I'm trusting the journey. I'm beyond thankful for Jen and proud as hell to share Back Porch Businesses building with not only these amazing other businesses but clients and customers as well!
